1. Do solar panels really need cleaning?
Yep, they do! Like a dirty windscreen, panels covered in dust, grime, lichen or bird droppings just can’t do their job properly. Less sunlight gets through, and that means less power for your home. A proper clean keeps your system running at full tilt—and keeps more money in your pocket.
2. How much performance can I get back after a clean?
The amount of power you regain depends on how dirty your panels are. On average, we typically see 5% to 30% efficiency restored after a clean which can significantly increase your energy production.
3. My installer said my panels are self-cleaning. Is that true?
Some panels have hydrophobic coatings that help reduce dirt build-up, but they’re not magic. Things like bird droppings, tree sap and lichen still stick around. A good clean is still the best way to keep your panels working at their best.
4. My panels are tilted—won’t rain clean them?
A bit, yes. But not enough. Rain can rinse off loose dust, but it won’t shift baked-on muck like droppings, lichen or sap. That’s where a professional clean comes in.
5. Is it worth getting my panels cleaned if I don’t get credits from my energy provider?

7. Can cleaning damage my panels?
Not when done by pros. We use non-abrasive tools, purified water and gentle techniques designed just for solar. No harsh scrubbing. No nasty chemicals. No damage.
8. What chemicals do you use?
Only eco-friendly, solar-safe solutions that have been tested and are approved for use on solar panels. They’re tough on lichen, concrete, paint, and grime—but kind to your panels, home, and the planet.
9. What equipment do you use?
We clean with soft-bristle brushes, water-fed poles and purified water systems that don’t leave streaks or residue. It’s all designed to clean deeply without hurting panel surfaces.
10. How often should I get them cleaned?
At least once a year for most homes—but it depends on your location. If you’re near trees, the coast, or dusty roads, you might need it more often. After each service, we’ll give you a heads-up on how often you should book in.
11. Can I clean them myself?
You could, but we don’t recommend it. DIY often leads to streaks from tap water, damage from detergents, or safety risks on slippery roofs. Let us handle it—it’s safer, quicker, and better for your panels.
12. How long does a clean take?
Most residential jobs take 1–2 hours, depending on panel count and access. We’ll give you a clearer estimate once we know your setup.

15. Do I need to be home?
Not unless your inverter is inside. If we have outdoor access, we can get the job done safely and respectfully while you’re out. Want to be home? No problem—we’ll schedule a time that suits.
16. There’s paint/concrete on my panels — can you help?

17. Do you offer discounts for big systems or group jobs?
Yes! We offer discounts for larger arrays and group bookings. Great for neighbours, strata, and commercial sites. Just reach out—we’ll put together a custom deal.
18. How do I pay?
We accept cash, ZipPay, EFT or credit card. If you’re paying in cash, just let us know so our techs are ready on the day.
19. Should I pest-proof my panels?
Yes — especially if you’ve seen birds, possums, or wildlife near your roof. Nests under your panels can damage wiring, reduce efficiency, and even become a fire risk. Prevention is much easier (and cheaper) than repairs.
20. Why are pigeons still on my roof after bird proofing?
They’ll hang around for a bit, pacing and testing for entry. Once they realise they can’t get back under, they’ll move on. It’s all part of the process.
21. Will leaf-proofing stop leaves under my panels?
Yes. Our mesh keeps leaf litter out from underneath your panels, preventing buildup and keeping your panels free from debris.
22. How much does pest or leaf proofing cost?
Costs vary based on panel layout, clean-up needs, access, and mesh requirements. We’ll come by for a quick site visit and give you a fair quote.
23. I’ve got dogs — will that be a problem?
Not at all! We meet excited pups every day. Just let us know if they’re extra speedy or love a gate escape—we’ll take care to close up behind us.
